THE GAME OF INCHES

By: Patrick Kalmertondsc_0056-2

How many times have you heard the words “IF ONLY” or “A FEW MORE INCHES” come from the disgruntled sighs of a hunting companion? If only the buck would have… If only I would have… If only the wind wouldn’t have… The frustration continues, but there’s more to take away from these missed opportunities. Continue Reading

Big Buck Down!

A Hunt To Remember!

By: Joe Jankowski

denny-hamlin

I slow my breath and concentrate so intensely as to see the individual hairs behind the shoulder of the animal.  My crosshairs settling in as I hold…one more easy exhale…The unknowing squirrel scurries across the branch and launches itself to the next oak.  I slowly hang my rifle back onto the holder and I ease myself back down onto the seat of my stand and finish the last couple bites of my lunch. Giant Linn County Iowa Buck

This giant Linn County Iowa buck was shot by Todd Becker on November 3, 2016

Todd Becker from Linn County, Iowa killed a giant buck on November 3rd after watching the Cubs win the world series in a late night the night before. Be sure to read this incredible story he told on an incredible deer!

So this is the story of the November 3rd 2016 hunt. The Cedar River in Linn County has been flooded out all summer. So the deer are pushed out of the river bottom timber and islands on the river on our hunting ground. So we only had a few stands to hunt on the higher ground. I had only been out three times before this hunt on Wednesday. On Mondaynight we had a very nice deer hit the camera. One of my buddies went Tuesday morning and did not see Mr Big. My only chance to hunt was on Wednesday morning! Trust me it was tough getting up after that long Cubbie WS Championship! Continue Reading

OluKai Pahoa Boot Review

pahoa boot review

The OluKai Pahoa chukka boot is full grain leather boot made sustainably in Hawaii.

Being in the outdoors is amazing, but every once in a while you have to come in, or back from the wild and do normal people stuff. For instances like these, it’s good to have some clothing and shoes that are not only able to get you up and down a mountain, but look great in a restaurant. OluKai has hit the nail on the head with their lineup of great outdoor footwear and we are not sure we could find a better fit than the OluKai Pahoa boot. Continue Reading
